We're thrilled to announce that a new community defibrillator has been installed at Cowdray Close, located at the bottom of Stag Lane. While the closest defibrillator at St Elizabeth's Close is 0.6 miles (772 yards) away, the journey involves a very steep bank, which can significantly increase travel times—especially during recent adverse weather conditions. By car, it would take a minimum of 3 minutes to reach, or 8 minutes on foot in ideal conditions, but poor weather could delay access further. This new installation ensures that vital, life-saving equipment is now much closer to residents in need.
The defibrillator is registered on the National Circuit, ensuring it is ready to save lives whenever needed.
A huge thank you to Eddie and Kim Hall, who have graciously taken on the role of guardians for the defibrillator. They will oversee regular checks to ensure it remains in perfect working condition. Eddie and Kim shared:"We are more than happy to help Mark with the location of the MissedaBeat defibrillator on our property. It’s an excellent and worthwhile cause that helps save lives."
The unveiling of the community defibrillator was marked by a special moment as Eddie Hall and Eric Stapleton were pictured together at the event. This installation was made possible thanks to Eric's incredible fundraising efforts, raising a staggering £724 through the London Marathon on 21st April 2024. Eric has also participated in the Ford RideLondon event, raising funds for both MISSED A BEAT and the British Heart Foundation.
A massive thank you goes to Ben Simpson of Sparkwise Solutions, who carried out the installation of the defibrillator. Ben continues to support MISSEDABEAT, helping install these life-saving devices across communities.
We cannot thank Eric, Eddie, Kim, and Ben enough for their dedication and continued support. Eric shared:"It is amazing to see where the funds I’ve raised have been used to purchase vital safety equipment."
In addition to providing defibrillators, MISSEDABEAT is actively working on including Bleed Control Kits in all cabinets installed by the charity. These kits are vital in responding to emergencies involving severe bleeding, adding another layer of community safety and preparedness.
If you would like to support MISSEDABEAT in any way—whether by raising funds, sponsoring a defibrillator, or sponsoring a Bleed Control Kit—please get in touch. We are always looking for further support to help make our communities safer places.
Together, we are making our communities safer and ensuring life-saving equipment is readily available when it matters most.
