MISSEDABEAT is proud to be part of the dedicated team working hard to bring the Knife Angel to Newton Aycliffe in June 2025.
This powerful national monument, crafted by artist Alfie Bradley from the British Ironwork Centre, is constructed using 100,000 seized blades and weighs an incredible 3.5 tonnes. Its presence will serve as a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of knife crime while starting crucial conversations about the importance of community safety and violence prevention.
As part of this initiative, MISSEDABEAT will also highlight the need for lifesaving equipment, including defibrillators and bleed control kits, as essential tools to support communities and save lives in emergencies.
Why Registering Equipment on National Circuits Is Crucial
Improved Emergency Response:
When defibrillators and bleed control kits are registered on national circuits (such as The Circuit – The National Defibrillator Network), emergency services can guide 999 callers to the nearest lifesaving equipment during an emergency.
A well-connected registry ensures that no time is wasted locating vital tools, especially when every second counts.
Community Awareness:
Registration increases public awareness of where these tools are located. People are more likely to take action when they know lifesaving equipment is nearby.
It also empowers communities to feel safer, knowing they have resources to respond effectively.
Maintaining and Monitoring Equipment:
Registered devices are easier to maintain because organizations can track when they require servicing or replacement.
This ensures that defibrillators and bleed kits are always in working order when needed most.

Partnership Opportunities: Collaborate with organizations like MISSEDABEAT to fund and install additional defibrillators and kits in key locations around Newton Aycliffe.
A Message of Preparedness
While the Knife Angel calls for action against knife crime, it also presents an opportunity to promote readiness in case of emergencies. By increasing the number of registered defibrillators and ensuring bleed control kits are available, communities can demonstrate their commitment to protecting and saving lives, no matter the circumstances.
