📢 Exciting News from Leicester Airport! 🛩️

📢 Exciting News from Leicester Airport! 🛩️

The airfield was constructed in 1942 as part of the former RAF station, RAF Leicester East. The facility was named Stoughton Aerodrome prior to 1974.

Leicester Airport, located near the village of Stoughton and just 5 miles east of Leicester city center, is a hub for general aviation enthusiasts. Operated by the Leicestershire Aero Club, the airport offers:

✈️ Flight Training and Private Flying✈️ A grass runway perfect for light aircraft operations✈️ Aircraft storage and maintenance facilities✈️ Aviation events and parachuting activities

But today, we’re thrilled to announce a new addition that enhances safety at this cherished aviation site.

💓 Community Defibrillator Installed! 💓In collaboration with MISSEDABEAT, a community defibrillator has been installed at Leicester Airport to ensure life-saving equipment is readily available for pilots, staff, visitors, and the local community.

This installation is all the more vital as the closest defibrillator to the airport was previously 1.3 miles away—a shocking distance in an emergency. Thanks to this initiative, immediate access to this life-saving device is now a reality.

John Watters, SHEQ Group Manager, expressed his pride in partnering with Mark from MISSED A BEAT, saying:

“This is the beginning of an exciting partnership that will ensure all businesses associated with the SHEQ Group have access to defibrillators. Plans are already in place for further installations, and Mark will be visiting the identified sites to bring these to fruition.”

A special thank you goes to Pritam from FIX UP ELECTRICAL LTD, our very own electrical angel, who assessed the site and carried out the necessary work to ensure the defibrillator installation was a success. We’re excited about the potential for this to grow into another strong partnership.

This initiative highlights our shared commitment to safety and well-being. A massive thank you to everyone involved! Whether you’re visiting for flying lessons, aviation events, or simply to enjoy the atmosphere, we’re proud to make your time at Leicester Airport even safer.
