MISSEDABEAT: Supporting Communities with Life-Saving Services

Mark Preston

Mark from MISSEDABEAT recently hosted a CPR and Defibrillator Awareness Session for the teams at Little Cubs, Trio Coffee Shop, and Glow Church.

The session focused on:

  • Addressing common misconceptions like:

"I might hurt the person", "I could be sued", and "Defibrillators are only for professionals".

  • Highlighting the importance of quick action:

    • Every minute without CPR or defibrillation reduces survival rates by 10%.

    • Defibrillation within 3 to 5 minutes increases survival rates to 74%.

    • Brain damage can occur within 4-6 minutes without oxygen.

Staff practiced CPR on dummies and advanced training with the Brayden CPR manikin, which provides real-time feedback. By the end, attendees expressed greater confidence in their ability to handle emergencies, perform CPR, and use a defibrillator effectively.

Bleed Control Kits Initiative

Mark also introduced the Bleed Control Kit, which MISSEDABEAT aims to include in community defibrillator cabinets. Currently, there are no Bleed Control kits in and around Newton Aycliffe's community cabinets, sponsorship has been secured to enable for some bleed control kits to be added.

If you'd like to donate or sponsor a Bleed Control kit, please get in touch to support this life-saving initiative.

Thank You, Glow Church!

A special thank you to Andrew Cherrie and the team at Glow Church for their ongoing support. Glow Church is now working with MISSEDABEAT services to establish a Service Agreement, which includes:

  • Monthly checks on cabinets, defibrillators, and Bleed Control kits.

  • Registration and guardianship oversight, ensuring the equipment is always ready in emergencies.

Expanding MISSEDABEAT Services

MISSEDABEAT services are now offering Service Agreements to businesses with community defibrillators. Over recent months, Mark has identified several defibrillators in Newton Aycliffe that are:

  • Not regularly checked.

  • Equipped with expired pads or batteries.

  • unavailable and not registered on the national circuit.

  • Experiencing errors that go unnoticed due to lack of maintenance.

These issues can be avoided with regular servicing, ensuring defibrillators are fully operational when needed most.

Why Choose MISSEDABEAT Services?

By partnering with MISSEDABEAT services, businesses can ensure their defibrillators are:

  • Maintained monthly.

  • Checked for pad and battery expiration.

  • Monitored for errors, with immediate action taken when needed.

  • Emergency Ready and registered on the national circuit.

Together, we can save lives and make our communities safer. ❤️
