Mark Preston from MISSEDABEAT has been working alongside a number of local teams to support them with fundraising, in order to have a portable defibrillators pitch side for all home and away games.

Mark and Christopher Patton, the coaches for Newton Aycliffe Under 10s Reds, discussed ways on how the defibrillator could be funded. Mark donated sports memorabilia which would be used as a prize (Fabian Schar, Peter Beardsley or Callum Wilson signed/framed shirt)

Christopher Patton the Manager/coach of the team decided that the team would run a lotto ball competition, which raised a massive £590 towards the defibrillator. The winner of the competition was Mark Tyrie, he has since donated his prize towards another local charity, which is an amazing gesture.

Then for the final push, Jackie Hall and Neil Teasdale from Unite the union kindly donated the rest of the amount needed.

Christopher Patton stated that "The team are so grateful for the support from everyone who bought a number on the shirt and the Unite Union for the constant support towards team. We feel it is important to have this life saving device with us as a team, as people are aware sudden cardiac arrest could happen to anyone and of any age. We hope that the device stays tucked away in its carry case and it’s never called upon but knowing we have it if the worst does happen we are well equipped to give the best chances of survival."

Newton Aycliffe Under 10s reds would like to thank Mark Preston from the MISSEDABEAT foundation for his help and support in helping the team raise funds for a portable defibrillator.

Mark has sent link so that all parents/children can gain vital awareness about how to save a life (CPR and defibrillators)
