St. Marys Aces Bishop Auckland Under 11’s, competing in Division 4 of the TJFA, have partnered with MISSEDABEAT to raise funds for a portable defibrillator, ensuring they have this critical equipment at every game. Coached by Anth Brown and Phil Wilson, the team travels across the Teesside area, reaching as far as Bedale, and knows the importance of being prepared for emergencies. The team raised funds through initiatives like a bonus ball draw, parent donations, and a sponsored penalty shootout.
Parents are relieved to have the defibrillator, with one parent commenting, “Having the portable defibrillator with the team, no matter where they play, is brilliant. To know it’s in the kit bag if any players or supporters need it is so reassuring. The help and support from Mark at MISSEDABEAT has been amazing—such an easy, quick process. Thank you!”
Coach Anth Brown added, “The defibrillator is a beneficial piece of equipment for any club to have. Hopefully, I’ll never have to use it, but it could save lives at any time, so it’s absolutely worth having.” Coach Phil Watson expressed his appreciation, saying, “Thanks for organizing the defibrillator and the competition. It’s a great piece of equipment to have if there’s ever an emergency. Cardiac issues can happen, and it’s great to be as prepared as possible.”
The team was officially presented with the defibrillator during a recent training session, a significant addition to their First Aid kit. Club Secretary Sam Overfield shared the team’s gratitude: “We are so pleased to have the portable defibrillator as part of our First Aid kit. Knowing that we have life-saving equipment with us at all times and the difference it could make in an emergency situation is fantastic for our club. A big thank you from BASMJ U11 Aces.”
Alongside the equipment, Bobby, a team player, was pictured with a signed Peter Beardsley shirt, won by his uncle David. Peter Beardsley, who has been an amazing supporter of MISSED A BEAT for over two years, regularly signs shirts to help raise funds for defibrillators. His contributions have been instrumental in supplying life-saving equipment to local teams.
Through this partnership, St. Marys Aces Bishop Auckland U11’s and MISSED A BEAT continue to set a shining example of how sports teams and charities can come together to enhance safety and preparedness on and off the pitch.
